Mairéad O’Donnell

PhD Candidate

My research interests include social-ecological systems, novel urban ecosystems, and citizen science. I am passionate about understanding and enhancing people’s relationships and interactions with the natural environment.

Before joining NovelEco, I completed a postgraduate MSc. in Development Practice with Trinity College Dublin and an undergraduate BSc. (Hons) in Environmental and Geographical Sciences with Limerick Institute of Technology. I currently work as a Biodiversity Coordinator for the Irish agri-food sector, managing biodiversity targets and policies. A key feature of the role in establishing and developing biodiversity corridors is to enhance biodiversity connectivity. My work with NovelEco will focus on coproducing mechanisms for quantifying social-ecological attitudes to novel urban ecosystems.
